…you liiiike musiccy?
More tune type things!
MyTunesRSS is something that Goolgle threw at me when i was searching for a tool to uload all my playlists to a website. I want to do this so I can keep a record of playlists i’ve made and so on — of course I could just back up my iTunes dbase, but thats not much fun now is it? Plus i couldnt easily share it with the world.
This little app doesnt solve my problem but I thought it worthy of mention (especially as Apple have broken the RendevousProxy+Port Forward trick).
[Update: It isnt actually that awesome. It looks shinytastic but when you play the provided .m3u file (in iTunes at least) it only plays the first track of the playlist... not much good!
Updated Update: It does work.. you have to save the playlist and then import it into iTunes, it then imports each track as a stream. And works rather well!]
Of other tunes… I bought some Decks!
Yay! So Stevey is on his merry way to DJ superstardom HAHAHAHA.
Well its a nice thought, but i have got a long way to go before i can even claim DJ-dom let alone superstardom. The main issue at the moment being a) what sort of music do i want to play (I have a yearning to play hip-hop tracks, but I feel Im not perhaps savvy enough with the world of hip-hop… I have quite specific tastes in this area.) but I also want to play Drum and Bass cos its SO DAMN LIVELY! Tunes like the High Contrast remix of Kanye’s Gold Digga and other such crossover tracks (Fugees — ready or not, The Prodigy — Voodoo people) are what make this sort of music so much fun, add that to a load of floor filling DnB tracks of their own worth (say for example, some Shy FX oldies, Pendulum (of course…), Logistics, Sub Focus, Hype tracks… ) and you’ve got a veritable party in your head. Or bedroom, or maybe even dancefloor
On to problem b) — Vinyl is so frigging expensive! And seeing as as of the end of October I will no longer have a job at the JEP (and having found this out just AFTER buying the £700 worth of kit) I’m stuck with Trance/cheesy house tracks which came with the decks. Which is fine, because the regular bosh bosh bosh bosh of the bass makes beat matching a little easier for a beginner (I guess??!), but i am SO SICK of wafty vocals and regular bass beats. I need some bosh tish ba-ba-bosh-bosh tish once in a while! Having said that I have grown attached to Paul Van Dyk’s Nothing But You, and also Chicane - Saltwater was in the pile so I’m happy. (As was a PROMO of DJ Sammy’s Heaven… which I am certainly not happy about.)
What else? Hm. I dont know. I am getting into my autumn winter music vibe now, so more rock (Knights of Cydonia by Muse is a current favourite — in need of more questing power rock tracks like this - recommendations on a postcard to the usual address… or just leave a comment.), more slightly melancholy female vocal over acoustic guitars/christian rock and so forth. Leaving the happy vibes of Pharcyde, People Under The Stairs and AiM behind (OH MY GOD, Good Disease is an amazing track BTW - wish I’d realised I had this at the start of summer!)
[Update: Alex tells me the People Under the Stairs are playing at Monkeybar in Swansea this weekend... I am SO GUTTED. Pendulum, Noisia and now PUTS as well?! Why do I miss all teh fun?!]
ERm…. that is all!
can i get a rewiiiiind?!
